Sunday Funday: Anniversary Edition in Cobalt Blue and Bright Orange

OH-EM-GEE I finally found some time to blog! I just started the Fashion Merchandise Marketing graduate program at FIDM San Francisco last week, so I’m getting adjusted to my new schedule and crazy workload. And let me tell ya, this ain’t no joke!

Anyway, this past Monday was mine and my boyfriend’s 6th anniversary! (If any one of you asks me when he’s going to propose, I will personally punch you in the face! lol) So on Sunday, we decided to take advantage of this gorgeous weather and have a celebratory brunch after we took care of our babies (our plants) followed by some intense go-kart racing– we’re adrenaline junkies like that.

I opted for a new, cobalt blue lace number from Express that I’ve been dyyyyiinngg to wear when the weather reached over 70 degrees along with BCBG studded sandals in orange. I had to show my excitement and love for spring some kind of way and this is the best route I know how– through my clothes!

So go on and click for lots of shots of our beautiful, celebratory day…enjoy!

Buganvilias never get old. I can’t wait until this one covers my future house 🙂

MMmmm Basil.

Planted these Lilly bulbs in February and now they’re finally sprouting! I’m  making my mom proud with my new green thumb 🙂

I’ve had these beauties for years and I’m still in love with them. Thank you BCBG!

$1.95 mimosas in orange, strawberry and mango…are you kidding me?! I’ll take 4! Please and thank you.
Before this, I had never tried eggs benedict. After reading raving reviews on Yelp, I had to try their crabcake eggs benedict. They are truly, the bomb.com

Color Kaleidoscope: Top Spring Trends

For details, click here.

I know I’m not the only one leaping for joy that spring has finally arrived! I feel like the younger Black/Latin version of Martha Stewart by initiating a full-force, spring cleaning haul, gardening on my rooftop patio with flower printed gloves on and jumping up and down when I see the calla lilly bulbs I planted months ago starting to sprout in my terracotta pots. Someone get me a book deal and a TV show stat!

Recently, I submitted a fashion merchandising scholarship project and had to select 10-20 items that are going to be hot items for spring 2013. For the apparel portion, I created the looks above consisting of stripes, floral, lace, and raffia. (Click here to see the handbags, accessories and shoe trendsheet.) I titled the trendsheet Color Kaleidoscope because looking at these pieces at one time reminds me of looking through a kaleidoscope and twisting it around to see the different colors, prints, shapes, textures, materials, and patterns.

Ahhh spring… I love you.

Look of the Day: Lace + Sheer

Last week, I spent most of my time in Sacramento with my parents. One of the many things we share in common is our love for coffee (Organo Gold to be specific). We are true caffeine fanatics. During our ‘afternoon coffee break’, Pops snatched my precious camera and started snapping away like paparazzi.

Here are some shots of yours truly sporting a sheer blouse with a great lace detail on the shoulders, collar, and cuff. Also complimented with Gap jeans, Dolce Vita tall boots, Michael Kors rose gold watch, plus sunnies and gold flower earrings from H&M.

Frocking in Lace

Lace isn’t only for the boudoir ladies. Flooding the runways in Spring, this trend is super easy to transition in Fall.  Lace exudes femininity, sophistication and of course, sex appeal. For a daytime look, opt for nude, or white lace dress, top or skirt. Experiment with pairings such as a high waist pant, flair leg denim or a maxi skirt. In the evening, bare it all in black lace with a nude underpinning. Don’t worry you won’t really be baring it all. It’s just the illusion. Want to take it up a notch? Bright colored lace pieces are amazingly sexy and bold! Play around with different hem lines and structures: babydoll, long-sleeve mini, shift…you get my drift.
